SEO Changes that Will Affect Your Business in 2017

SEO

Your SEO could have something to do with your faltering presence on the search engines. According to Knoxweb, Search Engine Optimization must be in place if you want to increase your ranking on Google, Bing and the other search engines on the web. Knoxweb explains that when done correctly, SEO can bring you to the top just after the paid for ads, but unfortunately, when done incorrectly it can have the opposite effect.

Google changes its algorithms all the time, and with names like Panda, Hummingbird and Pigeon, it’s not easy to keep track, especially when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. Since 1996, Knoxweb has kept ahead of the changes helping clients and customers with good SEO tactics and practices.

Bad Search Engine Optimization is much more than keyword stuffing. Bad SEO habits will destroy the user’s experience. With that being said, the worst sin in the world when it comes to Search Engine Optimization is Poor User Experience. When you read your content on your site, does it flow, is it easy to read and understand? If the answer is no, you are destroying your users experience.

As mentioned above, Google is always changing or adding to the algorithms and when the unofficially named Intrusive Interstitial Update went into effect in January of 2017, SEO changed yet again.

The update affects businesses who continually post intrusive pop-up ads on their website. The update was announced back in August of last year, but much like Googlegeddon, some didn’t pay attention. Google stated, “To improve the mobile search experience, after January 10, 2017, pages where content is not easily accessible to a user on the transition from the mobile search results may not rank as highly.” Google will penalize you if your Interstitial ads:

  • Cover the content
  • Require dismissal before access to the website
  • Pop up without interaction
  • Above the fold looks like an ad, but has to be X’d out before the main content is exposed
  • Bothers or annoys users
  • Pop up ads appear, but aren’t necessary to your content or your website

Knoxweb explains that the best way to avoid the pop up and interstitial penalty is to think like the search engines. Google’s main objective is user experience. The King of the search engines wants all websites to be easy to use, honest, and intuitive.

According to Google acceptable interstitials or pop ups ask for cookie permission or age verification. Other acceptable ads include non-intrusive banners that hold entertaining or educational news items that are fresh and relevant.

Google is pedantic about creating an enjoyable environment and has always put the user first. These days the world’s most well known search engine is getting more searches than it ever has, and thanks to mobile technology, they are getting them from tablets and phones.

According to Knoxweb, Google receives around two trillion searches every year with over half of those searches coming from mobile devices. Add to the fact that mobile searches are changing the way that users search, always on the go, researching products and services and voice search, search engines have had to respond.

The screen on a mobile device is much smaller than a laptop or PC. The users experience is drawn and magnified putting everything center stage. If your SEO and content isn’t up to scratch your potential clients and customers will head over to the competition.

For your business to be successful in today’s environment, you need to enhance your online presence.

A Mobile Friendly Website Can Help Business Grow

mobile friendly website

A mobile friendly website is essential these days, especially if you want to show up at the top of the search engines. However, according to Knoxweb, there are still some businesses and organizations that have not converted their website.

If you follow the Knoxweb Blog, you will know that Google started penalizing businesses, organizations, and individuals who didn’t go mobile. Companies have been bearing the brunt of Googlegeddon since April of 2015 seeing their SEO ranking tumble considerably. If you used to show up at the top, but are now at the bottom of page 10, chances are you aren’t mobile or mobile responsive.

Even before 2015, researchers were seeing a leap from desktop to mobile device shopping. In fact, back in 2013 online shoppers were using mobile devices to purchase products and services. A whopping 55 percent of users who shopped online were doing so from their Smartphone’s. In December of 2014, tablets and Smartphone’s accounted for 60 percent of all time spent on digital media.

Below are three reasons why you need a mobile friendly website.

Your Customers Expect it-These days people are using their mobile devices even if they are at home. Your customers are probably not sitting in front of a laptop or desktop, and if they are, they are probably using their Smartphone at the same time.

If you don’t give your clients and customers what they are shopping for and what they need, they will go elsewhere. People love to browse on their mobile phones, and if you can’t give them what they need, you will lose business. Talk to Knoxweb about designing a mobile responsive website that will work on laptops, desktops, tablets, Smartphone’s and Smartwatches.

Google Will Not Be Happy-As previously mentioned, if you are not mobile friendly, Google will penalize you if you do not have a mobile friendly website. However, some websites are still using images, content and navigation that just doesn’t work on Smartphone’s and tablets. Once again, if users can only see your website the way it should be on a laptop or desktop, they will end up with an unsatisfying experience.

Kiss Your Clients and Customers Goodbye-If you don’t have a mobile friendly website, you are probably already noticing a decline in business. If you aren’t, you are one of the lucky ones. Go mobile with Knoxweb before you do because the clients and customers that are still using laptops and desktops may want to find you on their mobile device, and if they have to pinch and squeeze the screen, you just may lose them for good.

When you give users easy navigation, fast loading pages and a site that is streamlined with great products, services and content, you will be well on your way to increasing your client and customer base.

Keeping Google and your customers satisfied should be your goal, however, that is nearly impossible unless you have a mobile friendly website. A mobile friendly website will help your business grow.

If you want to know more about becoming mobile friendly, call or click and schedule a no obligation consultation with the mobile web design team from Knoxweb. It really could change the way you do business.

Video Grabber Can Boost your Online Presence

video grabber

Video Grabber makes video marketing easier. Video marketing is the best way to expose your business or organization. According to Knoxweb, who have been working to make life easier on the net since 1996, promoting your company with a video will not only boost your business, but it can also help your SEO.

Knoxweb explains that video is certainly no fad with 90 percent of internet surfers saying products and services that feature video have been instrumental when it comes to purchasing. If that isn’t reason enough to contact Knoxweb about video production with Video Grabber for your online marketing, then take into consideration that 92 percent of mobile device users share the videos that they watch with other people. On top of that, 75 percent of people watching videos will interact with your business or organization if they watched one of your video ads.

If you follow the Knoxweb Blog, you will know that traditional marketing has changed, and if you aren’t marketing your protects online, you will lose business. Sticking to the traditional ways of advertising is just not enough, especially if you want your company to stand out from the competition.

Video Grabber is the best way to literally grab the attention of potential clients and customers as it’s visual stimuli that is perfect for today’s audiences. However, there are some wrong and right ways to incorporate video into your online marketing campaign.

The most important step is to focus on your business blog or your website. Upload your video to your site before you go to a major video platform, as you want to make sure that you are getting the traffic. When you post videos on your own website, you have control over the ads and the copy. Remember, YouTube has an astounding 60 hours of video that is uploaded by users every 60 seconds, and with 5 billion people watching videos every day, odds are you will not go viral anytime soon.

Instead of hoping for viral views, try and be timeless. You want users to watch your content over and over, and if you upload good quality content, they will.

People want to watch entertaining, informative, and practical videos. Tutorials, how-to’s and product or service reviews will give you good Search Engine Optimization. Most importantly, make sure that your audience has something they can take away, helpful advice or tips, that they can use now.

Once you upload your video to your website, use it with your business blog by making a summary in a blog and posting the video or by acting as supporting content with figures, stats and facts so that your video is easier to understand. You want to drive traffic to your website, not YouTube and not someone else’s website.

When you create good videos with quality content using Video Grabber, you are well on your way to a better ranking on the search engines, but if you want to see a higher return, you must optimize your videos with SEO techniques. Talk to KnoxWeb about incorporating Search Engine Optimization into your online marketing plan.

Knoxwebs video production department has bridged the gap between award winning website development and design with Video Grabber. Video Grabber showcases your business or organization in an engaging and fresh way.

Does Social Media Presence Affect SEO?

social media presence

If your social media presence is virtually non-existent, it’s time to call Knoxweb for a no obligation social media marketing consultation. Knoxweb can help boost your online profile on all of your social media pages, which can also help with your SEO.

According to Knoxweb, Google, Bing, and the other search engines reward businesses and organizations who optimize their content. If you consistently blog, share, create new posts and Tweet frequently, you will be rewarded.

Every Tweet and post on Facebook is considered a web page it its own right. One Facebook page would be links you share, posts you reshare and status updates. Google, whether from a fan, friend, group, or page, considers each of these individual pages.

Knoxweb explains that not every post or tweet that is indexable is indexed. Most people presume that Bing and Google try to index every single page on the World Wide Web, but that is not the case. Although the search engines have a vast number of resources, there are limits. Add to that the number of pages that are growing at exponential rates, the search engines have begun to realize that not every web page is valuable. The algorithms that Google and the other search engines build make the crawlers very selective.

With social media churning out massive amounts of content per day, hundreds more than a traditional web page, you can bet that your social media content is landing on the search engines. However, with people tweeting over 500 million tweets every day, Bing or Google will not index most, and certainly not all of the posts that are generated on a daily basis.

According to Google, the robots aren’t able to crawl every page on Twitter and Facebook; in fact, rumor has it that Google was blocked from Twitter for nearly two months because it was crawling too many pages.

Google algorithm engineers and the powers that be at the largest search engine in the world get nervous when it comes to the possibility of being blocked. However, things have changed since the Twitter firehouse has given Google access. What does that mean? It means that the most powerful and largest search engine in the world can see every single tweet that has been posted in real time. However, your social media presence and your online ranking is much more than posting and tweeting.

If you follow the Knoxweb blog, you will know how important a blog is to your business or organization. Posting regular blogs on your company website helps with your SEO, but when you share those posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media websites, you will have a better chance of ranking higher in the search engines.

Back in 2016, most SEO experts were under the impression that social media didn’t matter to ranking, but since that time, things have certainly changed. Knoxweb explains that being diligent with your social media marketing can help with your Organic Search Engine Optimization.

The most important thing to remember about your social media presence and social media marketing is to keep a healthy presence, as this will help elevate the crawlers.

If you would like more information regarding social media marketing, would like a new mobile website, or just have questions regarding your social media presence, call or click and schedule a no obligation consultation with the internet marketing experts from Knoxweb.

Celebrate Decoration Day and Memorial Day

decoration day

This Memorial Day while you are enjoying your picnics and BBQ’s take a step back and remember why Memorial Day, or Decoration Day is celebrated in the first place.

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day and was started after the Civil War as a way to remember those who had died during service. Below are a few more facts that you may or may not know about Memorial Day.

Although hundreds of communities had been independently celebrating Decoration Day, or Memorial Day, the federal government first declared Waterloo, New York the official birthplace of the holiday. Decoration Day was first celebrated on May 5 in 1866.

Although May 30 was the day of celebration for decades, Congress established the federal holiday as the last Monday in May in 1971.

Known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day honored members of the military who actually died during the Civil War from 1861 to 1865.

About 620,000 Americans died during the Civil war. Those deaths make it the deadliest war on record in the United States. Nearly 644,000 Americans have passed in all of the other conflicts combined.

President Bill Clinton signed the National Moment of Remembrance Act on December 28, 2000. The President designated 3:00 pm local time as a National Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day.

Red poppies are a symbol of remembrance and is a tradition honoring those who have given their life in war.

Although Memorial Day was originally started as a holiday that honored the Union soldiers, some Southern states still honor the confederates observing other days know as Confederate Decoration Day.

Over 5,000 people attended the first Decoration Day at the Arlington National Cemetery in 1866. That is roughly the same amount of people who attend Memorial services today.

This Memorial Day take a moment to thank the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for your country.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day from Knoxweb!

7 Social Media Marketing Tips

social media marketing

Social media marketing can be perplexing, especially if you are dividing your time between running your business and posting on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or the dozens of other social media sites that are dominating the World Wide Web.

Thankfully, Knoxweb has some tips that may help you muddle through.

The All Important Plan

Social media marketing must start with a solid plan, as they say, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Ask yourself the important questions such as, “Why are we on social media?” and, “What platforms are best for my target audience?” then it’s time to call in the experts from Knoxweb. Create Plans for Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and you will see a boost in your SEO.

Be Consistent

If you are only tweeting once a day, you will lose followers. Although Snapchat and Instagram don’t move as fast, you should have a schedule. Outline how often you will post on each site, what type of content you plan to post, and whom you want to target. Your users are following hundreds of other people and pages and if you aren’t posting fresh content on a regular basis, you will be forgotten.

Be Picky

Knoxweb recommends that you share quality content that others will find valuable. You want your content to be helpful and relevant to your followers. Make it fun and entertaining. Post pictures and videos that others will want to share.

Don’t be Too Personal

It’s okay to write about your passions on your personal social media pages, but leave the politics and religion off your business pages. Keeping your thoughts on your business pages to yourself is especially important when it comes to social media marketing. The last thing you want is to lose business because your followers disagree with your political views.

Post More Photos

People love pictures. Take candid photos of you and your team at the office. If you own a restaurant, ask the wait staff to take pictures with the patrons. Just be sure and ask your diners first. When you post photos and videos your clients and potential customers will get to see you on a more personal level.

Join Communities

You will find smaller communities using Twitter Chats, Facebook Groups, and LinkedIn Groups. When you join smaller communities, you are connected with companies and like-minded people that could turn into sales. When you participate, you are establishing you and your business or organization as an authority. By connecting with influencers your content may be shared. You can find communities that relate to your specific industry on Facebook, Twitter and the other social media websites.

Interact

According to Knoxweb, if you don’t interact you might as well delete your social media pages. It is imperative that you talk to your users. Be careful with automation and make sure that you respond to posts. Sharing once a day won’t help, but neither will sharing links every five minutes.

Social media marketing doesn’t have to be tricky, and it won’t be when you call or click and schedule a no obligation online marketing plan with Knoxweb. Knoxweb can design a new mobile friendly website that will give you the exposure you need in all areas of media.

Brand Visibility-People who use social media have fully integrated their favorite pages and platforms into their lives. One of the best ways to position your message is where your users congregate. TV commercials and magazine print ads used to be the prime target for promotion, but considering most people visit their social media pages instead of watching TV; social media marketing is one of the best strategies.

Active against your Competition-If you have not created social media pages for your business or organization, you can bet that your competition has. One of the best ways to see what your competition is doing is to check out their social media pages. Find out what posts are getting the most likes, comments, and shares and do something similar. Just be sure that you make your content unique.

Keeps your Brand Honest-The internet is chocked full of rumors and lies, but social media allows customers and potential clients to have a voice. User generated social media content, likes, comments, shares, tagging and additional features allow your users to voice their thoughts. Although this may sound like you are opening up a can of worms, it is actually good for your business or organization. Even negative reviews and comments can help your business. When you use negative comments to your advantage, you can improve your customer relations and your SEO.

Knoxweb can show you how to create a powerful social media marketing campaign that will increase your profits.

Business Blog to Increase your Bottom Line

A business blog is one of the smartest tools you can use to increase your bottom line, but if a professional such as Knoxweb isn’t writing your business blog, you could be losing clients and potential customers.

Knoxweb explains that blog writing takes time, research, and most importantly, commitment. If you are running a business or organization and barely have enough time to complete your tasks on a daily business, writing a blog could become a hassle.

A business blog should be written every week or once a month. Writing a blog for your business whenever you feel like it not only interrupts the flow of your post, but can also hurt your SEO.

Google loves fresh content, and when you write blogs for your business on a regular basis, you will be rewarded. Below are some additional reasons to include a business blog in your marketing campaign.

  • Target potential clients
  • Boost your website traffic
  • Become an industry expert
  • Create a community
  • Create valuable connections
  • New Prospects

Target clients-When you write a business blog, or hire Knoxweb you are promoting your products and services in a more subtle way. Writing a blog with keywords and keyword phrases that target your audience is the best way to hone in on your demographic.

Website traffic-Most businesses have a separate section on their website for blogs. According to Knoxweb, this allows a secondary location where new customers and potential clients can find you. Adding links to your products and services pages along with your contact pages and online store will get your blog subscribers to click through to your website pages.

Industry Expert-A professional business blog writer can share high quality content that is well researched and relevant. By sharing informative, educational and unique content in your blog, you are well on your way to become an expert in your industry. Over time, you could become the go to blog when it comes to useful information.

Create a Community-Communication is the key to a successful blog. When you communicate, collaborate and share your blogs on social media pages you are optimizing your content. When you optimize your content with a business blog, you are creating a following.

Valuable Connections-Although it is important not to make your blog too personal sharing some personality and a bit of humor from time to time doesn’t hurt. Share some fun facts about your business or if a holiday are on the horizon talk about it. Little known Christmas Facts, or 12 Things you didn’t know about Easter will give your business blog personality. Personalizing your blog makes your business more approachable.

New Prospects-A business blog that is relevant and helpful will increase your business and sales prospects. It can also help if you are looking for a new business partner or new employees. If someone finds your content on Google or shares it on LinkedIn, you are putting your business or organization in front of new people and business contacts. Without a blog, you may never have had the chance to meet those new contacts or people.

SEO for Smart Business Owners Knoxville

SEO

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is still vital if you want to be found in the search engines, and although the rules have changed thanks to Google, Bing and other search engine algorithms, the basics are still the same.

According to Knoxweb, links are still one of the top factors that Google considers in its ranking algorithm with content coming in a very close second.

Unfortunately, most people don’t understand what is needed to rank high on the search engines, in fact, sometimes the experts who work on the pages and the websites are confused, but not Knoxweb. Knoxweb has been at the forefront of the World Wide Web since 1996, and is constantly keeping up with the ever-changing trends of the SEO world.

SEO Matters-Search Engine Optimization strategies are more vital than ever as SEO helps build a strong online presence and could mean the difference between getting lost on the 20th page of a search or landing on the first page.

Content-Some marketers believe that great content is the key to a successful Search Engine Optimization campaign. However, Knoxweb explains that although great and unique content is important when it comes to building your clients and customers trust, that great content cannot be found on its own. Without SEO, no one will ever see it.

Search Engines-Google processes about 40,000 queries every second accounting for more than 3.5 billion searches every day. Chances are one or two of those Google searches were related to your products or services. SEO is the best way to connect with your potential clients and customers, and although it does take time, it is well worth the effort, as long as you are doing it the right way.

Content Visibility-You may have the most unique and thought provoking content on your website, but unless you incorporate SEO into the mix, your efforts will be wasted. If your content is failing in the Search Engines, it probably has something to do with your Search Engine Optimization.

Keywords-According to Knoxweb, keywords are still important, but are used differently. Using relevant keywords in your content will give you much better results than throwing up keywords in random spots on your website hoping for good SEO results. If you want quality traffic, it is important to use keywords that are relevant to your business or organization.

Algorithm Changes-Although it may seem frustrating, those algorithm changes are actually doing great things for your company. Google and the other search engines are here to create the best experience for users, which means you will only be getting the visitors that are interested in your products, services, and content.

SEO really does matter, and if you would like to run a successful online marketing campaign talk to the team from Knoxweb who will research the keywords that are most relevant to your business or organization.
